Let Protection Constructions For Pipes And Cables Become Habitats For Fish And Other Marine Life Forms
The authorities have so far only specified limited requirements in connection with installation of pipes and cables in the sea. One example is the provision that such installations shall be covered by soil in the water edge in order to avoid frost damages. Another provision states that pipes/cables shall be covered by soil or otherwise protected against bottom trawling. There are instances where such operations have destroyed the marine biological environment in large areas.
- Let pipe and cable lines become habitats for fish and other marine life forms:
Svenner Reef has been designed to be used as protection for pipes and cables and at the same time as a habitat. The product not only provides protection for pipes and cables, but also creates sanctuaries for fish and other marine life forms such as lobster and crawfish. - Limit erosion through use of Svenner Reef to cover pipes and cables:
Svenner Reef is based on a perforated construction. Sea current powers will be spread out once they hit the construction and will therefore loose energy. This will limit the possibility of erosion and excavation around the construction and the pipe/cable line. - Svenner Reef simplifies installation and inspection of pipes and cables:
Excavation of ditches and filling-in of masses may prove to be unnecessary with the use of this product and at the same time damages to the existing marine biological environment may be avoided.
