Projects To Limit Erosion Around Offshore Installations
The offshore industry requires projects to limit erosion around installations and along pipe and cable lines.
- Limitation of erosion around offshore installations:
Grip erosion protection may be installed at a defined distance in a row or around offshore installations. The height of the units may be close to 4 meters. The objective of this design is to reduce wave and sea current power. The area between the units and the installations will be in the form of a lagoon where the power of sea currents will be reduced. This solution may instead of erosion provide for accumulation of masses. - Limitation of erosion around windmill foundations:
Grip erosion protection may be installed in a circle with a diameter of between 20 to 30 meters around the installation. Using this solution is will be possible to achieve an accumulation of masses instead of erosion in the lagoon and around the windmill foundation. If this work is carried out before operations start on the foundation itself, the impact of sea currents and erosion on the excavation activities will be reduced. In addition the lagoon may serve as an excellent habitat with sanctuaries for fish and other marine life forms. - Limitation of erosion through covering pipes and cables:
Svenner Reef may with its perforated design reduce the power of sea currents and thereby reduce the impact of this energy.
